We are seeking a talented and dedicated Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Café Stella, a renowned French restaurant in Silver Lake that has been open for over 20 years. The ideal candidate will assist the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation, and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment. This role requires a passion for French cuisine, strong leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Executive Chef in the planning and directing of food preparation and culinary activities. Supervise kitchen staff and ensure efficient operation of the kitchen. Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive working environment. Assist in menu planning, development, and costing. Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage kitchen budgets. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create new dishes and innovate menu offerings. Manage kitchen staff scheduling and performance evaluations. Handle any kitchen-related issues promptly and effectively. Ensure consistency in food preparation and presentation, adhering to the restaurant's standards. Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen to ensure cleanliness and organization. Strong Background: Extensive experience working in high-end French restaurants or similar fine-dining establishments. Proven track record of culinary excellence and leadership in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Demonstrated expertise in French cooking techniques and a deep understanding of French cuisine. Experience in managing kitchen operations, including staff supervision, inventory control, and budget management. Strong creative and innovative skills, with the ability to contribute to menu development and new dish creation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively leading and mentoring a diverse kitchen team.
